1. What is the Principally Speaking Network?
The Principally Speaking Network (PSN) is a network of public school leaders in Huntsville City, Madison City, Madison County, Athens, Limestone County, Scottsboro, Jackson County, Ft. Payne, DeKalb, Etowah County and Gadsden school systems. The program is designed to build a sustainable network of professional support among principals, increasing knowledge and leadership abilities that lead to higher levels of student achievement. Principals meet in recurring sessions during the school year to enhance leadership skills and to network and learn from each other. The Principally Speaking Network focuses on instruction–based issues, looking at processes, products, and protocols.
2. What are the goals of the PSN?
· To build a sustainable network of support and collaboration among school principals
· To assist participants in improving teacher effectiveness and student achievement
· To develop strategies for successful resolution of school leadership involving critical issues
3. What is the content of the PSN?
The PSN is focused on improving student achievement. The session format allows for in-depth and continued conversations on issues directly related to:
· Using praise to improve teaching and learning
· Using available resources to improve teaching and learning
· What really works- examples of real life solutions to common issues
· What are top performing school doing?
· Comparing American education with global competitors
4. Can all administrators participate in the PSN?
The network is open is open to all administrators K-12 in Huntsville City, Madison City, Madison County, Scottsboro, Jackson County, Athens, Limestone County, Ft. Payne, DeKalb County, Etowah County, Attalla, and Gadsden.
5. Is PSN more appropriate for educational leaders at one level than another?
Each session addresses issues relevant to all levels of instruction, K-12. When appropriate, participants will be grouped according to instructional levels for more focused conversations.
6. Does the PSN relate to the Alabama Standards for Professional Development for Instructional Leaders?
Yes. PSN is correlated with the Alabama Standards for Professional Development for Instructional Leaders as well as with national standards. Participants may work to earn a state approved Professional Learning Unit in the area of Human Resources.
7. Will principals acquire professional development credit for participating?
The PLU is approved by the state of Alabama in the area of Human Resources. Participants should follow the directions received after registering (after Feb 10, 2012) to ensure that appropriate credit is recorded. Participants wishing to receive the maximum credit possible must arrive on time and remain until the session is dismissed in order to be counted present for credit purposes.

9. Is lunch provided?
Yes, the agenda includes a working lunch this is provided to participants based on preregistration.
10. Is there a cost to participate?
No. Funding partners have ensured that PSN is available to all education leaders in the named systems can participate at no individual cost.
