The Principally Speaking Network (PSN) is a network of
public school principals from HuntsvilleCity, MadisonCity and MadisonCounty
school systems. The program is designed to build a sustainable network of
professional support among principals, increasing knowledge and leadership
abilities that lead to higher levels of student achievement. Principals meet six
times during the school year to enhance leadership skills and to network and
learn from each other. The Principally Speaking Network focuses on
instruction–based issues, looking at processes, products, and protocols.

goals of the PSN?

What is the content of the PSN?
The
PSN is focused on improving student achievement. The four-hour, six session format
allows for in-depth and continued conversations on issues directly related to:

improve teaching and learning
·Using available
resources to improve teaching and learning
·What really
works- examples of real life solutions to common issues
·What are top
performing school doing?
·Comparing
American education with global competitors
4. Can all administrators
participate in the PSN?
The network is open is open
to all school principals K-12 in Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison
County school districts.
5. Is PSN more appropriate
for principals at one level than another?
Each four-hour session will
address issues relevant to all levels of instruction. When appropriate, participants
will be grouped according to instructional levels for more focused
conversations.

Does the PSN relate to the new Alabama Standards for Professional Development
for Instructional Leaders?
Yes.
The Alabama Standards for Professional Development for Instructional Leaders
will be part of each session with guided conversation focusing on specific
standards.
7. Will principals acquire
professional development credit for participating?
Each
school system should apply for the appropriate PLU credit since The Schools
Foundation is not an approved provider. Participants should follow the
directions of the respective staff development office to ensure that appropriate
credit is recorded. Participants wishing to receive the maximum credit possible
must arrive on time and remain until the session is dismissed in order to be
counted present for credit purposes.

must register in advance on the web site of The Schools Foundation in addition to following individual system directions for
registering for professional development credit.
